All applicants require an interview appointment, except applicants applying for an official (A or G) visa and those who qualify for the interview waiver program. Generally, the following applicants may be eligible to renew by mail:
- Applicants under 14 years old or older than 79; and
- Saudi citizens who are 17 years old and younger, or at least 40 years old and are renewing a B1/B2 that did not expire more than 48 months prior.
- Applicants renewing a J1 or J2 visa to continue in the same school or program and their visa expired no more than 12 months ago.
- Applicants renewing a C1/D or D visa that expired no more than 12 months ago.
You will be informed if you qualify to mail in your application after answering a series of questions when scheduling your appointment using the online appointment system. If eligible, you will be issued an Interview Waiver Confirmation letter and instructions on how to mail in your application.
