Location: Saudi Arabia
Event: The U.S. Mission to Saudi Arabia reports that a lone shooter attack occurred at the perimeter of the U.S. Consulate in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the evening of June 28. There were two fatalities, including a member of the Consulate’s local guard force as well as the assailant. No U.S. citizens were killed or injured. The U.S. Embassy and Consulate remain in contact with Saudi authorities as they investigate the incident. There are currently no changes to the Department of State’s Travel Advisory, which is available here. The U.S. Mission strongly encourages all U.S. citizens to remain vigilant and to follow the recommended “actions to take” below.

- Stay informed: Register in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive e-mails about travel and security information, and other messages important to U.S. citizens in Saudi Arabia.
