Event: Beginning the week of September 20, the U.S. Mission to Saudi Arabia will reopen the online appointment system for routine passport and consular report of birth abroad services as well as notarial services on the Mission website. In March, in an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and protect our workforce and customers, the Embassy in Riyadh and the Consulates General in Dhahran and Jeddah significantly reduced provision of American citizen services (ACS) to emergency services available by email appointment only. As the COVID-19 situation in Saudi Arabia changes, the U.S. Mission to Saudi Arabia is resuming consular operations in phases. The health and safety of our personnel and customers remain our priority, and we will have required precautions and practices in place.
Adult passport applications that qualify for the mail-in renewal program can be sent to the U.S. Embassy and Consulates General in partnership with SMSA Express. This does not require an appointment and is the most efficient way to process adult passport renewals. Instructions can be found on our website. The Consular Sections receive passport applications and forward them electronically to the United States for processing. Most passports are returned from the United States within two weeks.
