David Edginton assumed his duties as the U.S. Consul General in Dhahran in September 2021.
A career diplomat with more than 19 years in the Foreign Service, Mr. Edginton most recently served as the Senior Democracy Coordinator at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad from 2019-2021, where he oversaw federal assistance programs focused on promoting human rights, fundamental freedoms, judicial accountability, and political participation. In Iraq, Mr. Edginton also served as Cultural Attaché and as Public Affairs Officer for both the Provincial Reconstruction Team in Ninewa and Regional Embassy Office in Basrah.
Mr. Edginton served as Cultural Attaché in Riyadh from 2014- 2016 and Public Affairs Officer in both Wellington, New Zealand and Melbourne, Australia. His previous diplomatic assignments included Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, and Uruguay. He holds a master’s degree from George Washington University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oregon.
