Announces the Construction Award for the New U.S. Consulate General in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia
Caddell Construction Co. of Montgomery, Alabama, was awarded the construction contract for the new U.S. Consulate General project in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.
The multi-building complex will be situated on a 10.5-acre site in the city of Al Khobar, and will include a Consulate office building, a Consul General’s Residence, a Marine Security Guard Residence, support buildings, and facilities for the Consulate community. The new complex will provide Consulate employees with a safe, secure, sustainable, and modern workplace. Construction will commence in 2017 and project completion is anticipated in 2020.
The architect is Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP of San Francisco, California.
As part of the Department’s Capital Security Construction Program OBO has completed 133 new diplomatic facilities since 1999 and has an additional 52 projects in design or under construction.
