Ambassador Abizaid Speaks at Opening Ceremony of Women’s Career Fair
On October 1, United States Ambassador to Saudi Arabia John Abizaid attended the opening ceremony of Glowork’s “A Step Ahead” Career Fair 2019. Ambassador Abizaid emphasized how important it is for the U.S. to work closely with Saudi Arabia as it moves forward with the implementation of Vision 2030. “If Vision 2030 is successful, Saudi Arabia will be successful. The United States wants to be behind the vision and to be the partner of choice,” Ambassador Abizaid said.
Praising recent reforms, Ambassador Abizaid noted, “When you think about where the country is going, you realize you must empower the fifty percent of the population that has been for too many years underemployed… It’s a breathtaking revolution that we want to be a part of.”
Ambassador Abizaid emphasized the importance of events like “A Step Ahead” for helping women to achieve their professional goals. “I was informed that Glowork provided 36,000 new jobs for women alone over several years and events like this will empower many others.” He closed by inviting participants to consider joining the more than 50,000 Saudis currently studying in the United States.
The U.S. Embassy, through its EducationUSA network, is staffing a booth at the career fair to help participants learn about studying in the United States.
